Christmas with AUITC

Christmas

The last two weeks have been very busy for our volunteers in the lead up to Christmas time when the work we do in the community is needed more than ever.

Myself and my trainee elves, Luke & Steve have been involved with collecting and delivering toys for the Tameside Toy Appeal run by Action Together Tameside. It never ceases to amaze me, the generosity of the people and businesses of Tameside in gives so much to those less fortunate and making sure they have the children have something to open on Christmas Day.

As we always like to say, Ashton United is a true community club and this was also shown this week. Collections held by the Supporters Club have enabled them to purchase toys and equipment needed for the children’s ward at Tameside Hospital and on Thursday night before training, members of the supporter’s club and the first team squad went up to the hospital to drop off the presents.

On Wednesday afternoon we held our Luncheon Club Christmas Party which as always was well attended, everyone enjoying a traditional Christmas lunch, bingo, raffles and a Christmas sing-a-long. Thanks as always go to Angela Gratton and her team of dedicated helpers for all their efforts throughout the year. Last week as a thanks for their efforts the volunteers were treated to their own Christmas lunch at Ash Tree Farm.

One final thing to do is to wish everyone connected with Ashton United FC, Ashton United in the community and everyone in the Smallshaw Hurst area a very Merry Christmas and a happy & healthy New Year.
